Client case studies

Kasbah Resources Ltd

When Kasbah Resources Limited turned to the capital markets to help fund exploration for their tin assets in Morocco, they turned to BDO for assistance.

  • BDO in Perth worked closely with BDO Stoy Hayward in London by acting as Reporting Accountant for a potential listing on AIM.
  • In March 2007, Kasbah Resources pursued an IPO on the Australian Securities Exchange. BDO acted as Investigating Accountant to the IPO.
  • BDO in Perth worked closely with BDO Asmoun & Associes in Casablanca throughout the IPO process and as the ongoing auditor and tax adviser.

Mavuzi Resources Ltd and Mantra Resources Ltd

In September 2007, Mavuzi Resources Limited merged with Mantra Resources Limited by way of Scheme of Arrangement and turned to BDO Corporate Finance for assistance.

  • Mavuzi’s main asset was its gold and copper exploration areas in Mozambique.
  • Mantra’s focus was its uranium exploration interests in Tanzania and Malawi.
  • BDO Perth was selected as the Independent Expert to report on the merger based on their experience in the preparation of Independent Expert Reports and in working with Australian companies operating in Africa.
  • BDO independent expert report concluded that the merger was in the best interest of security holders.

African Energy Resources (Guernsey) Ltd

In March 2007, African Energy Resources (main asset uranium in Zambia) undertook an IPO on the Australian Securities Exchange.

  • BDO Perth acted as Investigating Accountant to the IPO.
  • BDO Perth continue to work closely with BDO Spencer Steward in Zambia as auditors.
