Mark is an Automotive Partner for BDO in Brisbane.  He leads the Automotive team for BDO nationally.

Mark exclusively works with clients in the automotive and related industries, supporting over 35 dealerships with both their operational and statutory requirements. He has developed a uniquely driven range of services, ranging from the compliance for audit and tax, to operational, profit enhancement, training and dealership transactions. Mark regularly authors articles for industry magazines and newsletters, and leads industry benchmarking reporting across BDO.

Mark joined BDO in 2000 as a Manager and became Partner in July 2006. His prior 10 year employment with a large motor dealer group, combined with 14 years in the chartered accounting profession, provided both a solid grounding and ignited the passion behind his specialisation in automotive.

Key assignments

  • Compliance – Mark acts for over 35 dealerships attending to the compliance function of accounting, audit and taxation. His experience has enabled the development of processes which ensure a timely and efficient result
  • Valuation – The valuation of a dealership for the purpose of establishing a commercial value of the goodwill and net business assets. Advice including the most tax effective manner for disposal of the assets
  • Analytical review – Assistance provided to a dealership to identify by department and franchise, the actual performance against industry benchmarks. Performance below capability is relatively easy to identify, however it is the experience gained through exposure to many dealerships which enabled the identification of the cause and solution
  • Buys/sells – The successful facilitation of a dealership sale which was completed with minimal disruption to the staff and operations
