Tax Director, Corporate & International Tax

David leads our Corporate & International Tax team in Adelaide. He has extensive experience in providing specialist tax services, particularly to large, privately owned groups. Although David has a varied client base, he has particular strengths in property, manufacturing, professional practices, retirement villages as well as in mining and mining industry suppliers. David was previously a partner with Deloitte, before moving to PKF as both a partner and managing partner. David left PKF in early 2012 to join BDO as tax director.

Key assignments

• Reviewing the structure and history of a property syndicate and obtaining refunds of GST and stamp duty in excess of $2m
• Providing advice to a number of land subdivision syndicates between property owners and developers to minimise and defer income tax, CGT, GST, stamp duty and land tax
• Advising on the tax issues associated with a joint venture structure between 2 major suppliers to the mining industry
• Establishing retirement village structures that have provided attractive tax outcomes and flexible funding arrangements
• Providing advice on WIP and other tax issues associated with the departure and introduction of partners in professional practices
• Providing assistance and advice to a corporate client being audited simultaneously by different offices of the ATO on domestic and international tax issues

Qualifications & memberships

• Bachelor of Arts (in Accounting)
• Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
• Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia
