David is the partner in charge of Brisbane's Corporate & International Tax division. He also leads the Indirect Tax team. David has spent over 15 years advising on a broad range of indirect taxes including goods and services tax (GST), customs duties and excise, anti-dumping, sales tax, luxury car tax and wine equalisation tax.

David has demonstrated experience in assisting clients of all sizes to maximise their indirect tax opportunities, while maintaining an appropriate focus on compliance. Through BDO philosophy of partner–led client engagements, David adopts a personal hands-on approach to ensuring that business issues are identified and solutions developed and implemented.

Key assignments

• GST Consulting – David has provided strategic structuring advice and comprehensive due diligence services concerning proposed merger and acquisition activities.
• Enhanced Project By-Law Scheme – EPBS applications in respect of projects in various industries including mining, manufacturing and primary production.
• Fuel Tax Credits – David has maximised fuel tax credit claims and energy grant credit refund claims.
• Revenue Authority Reviews and Audit Activity – David has successfully negotiated with the ATO in respect of comprehensive GST audit activity.
• ATO Annual Compliance Agreement – David has assisted a multi-national organisation achieve Queensland’s first GST ACA.
