BDO a Foundation Member of Partners for Livable Communities Australia
BDO is a Foundation Member of Australia’s first national non-profit organisation, focused purely on liveability – Partners for Livable Communities Australia (PLC Australia).
The economic, social and environmental impacts created by the projected growth and the ageing of Australia’s population have seen liveability emerge as a high priority on the national agenda. PLC Australia aims to help make Australian neighbourhoods, cities and regions better places to live, work and visit, by helping them understand, define and improve their liveability, and forge new partnerships with the wide range of stakeholders needed to initiate and sustain change.
Although it is new to Australia, PLC Australia is part of Partners for Livable Communities, established in Washington, DC, in 1977. Partners for Livable Communities has been the catalyst for billions of dollars of community reinvestment programs, including turnaround strategies for cities, neighbourhood programs that make better use of assets like libraries, advice to help make communities more age-friendly, and programs to use culture and amenity as an asset to build economic advantage.
Along with BDO, PLC Australia is supported by:
- Foundation Members: Rowland, THG, Synergies Economic Consulting, The Flinders Group, ML Design, Ranbury, Clayton Utz, Griffith University, Orogen
- Advisory Committee: Ms Jude Munro, Cr Paul Pisasale, Mr Des Power AM, Mr Michael Kerry, Ms Llewellyn Williams, Ms Penelope Coombes, Prof Robert Cummins.
