Automotive Executive Salary Survey 2011

Automotive Executive Salary Survey 2011

Employee costs account for approximately 50% of a dealership's gross profit.  The significance of this cost makes it imperative that remuneration structures are effective, particularly in the current environment of low consumer confidence which continues to put pressure on volumes and margins.

To assist our Automotive clients in evaluating current structures against current market trends, not only in terms of total remuneration but also the mix of base and incentive, as well as to review other benefits including car allowance, FBT contributions and superannuation, BDO has now analysed and completed its 2011 annual Automotive Industry Salary Survey.

The survey is a useful tool in the management of employee costs by allowing Dealers to evaluate executive employee costs against national and state averages and also includes useful articles and checklists on:

  • Culture and leadership
  • Effective salary packaging
  • Internal controls for payroll

This year's survey was conducted across Queensland, New South Wales/ACT, Victoria and Western Australia, covering remuneration details for in excess of 700 managers in seven executive positions, from more than 55 dealership groups, ranging from small rural dealerships to large publicly listed dealership groups.

If you would like a copy of the full survey, please contact contact one of our Automotive Industry specialists.

Thanks to all those who invested their time by participating in this year's Survey. Without this support, this survey would not have been possible.
