Our major findings include:
- The majority of respondents (93%) had their main operators in Australia or New Zealand.
- Not-for-profit organisations perceived fraud to be a problem more so for the sector (66%) than they did for their own organisations (20%).
- Of those organisations that responded only 16% had s uffered a fraud in the previous two years.
- The largest number of frauds reported occured in organisations in the $1,000,000 to $9,999,999 turnover group with 186 individual fraud cases reported.
- The largest number of frauds reported occurred in organisations with 51 - 100 employees with 150 individual fraud cases reported.
- The largest number of frauds reported occurred in organisations with no volunteers with 234 individual fraud cases reported.
- Cash theft and kickbacks/bribery were the most common types of fraud perpetrated.
- The key factors organisations say as being required to reduce the risk of fraud were strong internal contraols (74%) and an ethical organisational culture.
