The tax reform debate

The process for the collection and management of taxes is an age old dilemma for Governments and the reform thereof is equally problematic. But why is it so problematic and why isn’t reform moving faster?

Professor Ken Henry established a basis for significant reform with the Henry Report back in May this year. However, the unfolding of the political election process put Henry to the backburners.

Now that the election is a long distant memory, it is time to put this issue back on the table as a priority and revisit the Henry Review and other critical reform issues.

BDO calls upon the Federal Government and the coalition to focus its efforts on Tax Reform and answer the real and long overdue requirements of a fair and equitable tax regime for Australia.
