Our speakers

Dr Sebastien Wong | Consilium Technology

Dr Sebastien Wong is the Chief Technology Officer of Consilium Technology and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of South Australia. 

Sebastien started his career at YARC systems in California in 1998. He joined the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) in 1999, where he led Australia's research effort into computer algorithms and architectures for electro-optic threat warning systems.  In 2008 Sebastien was awarded the Chief of Air force Gold Commendation for his work in the improvement of the AN/AAR-60 missile warning algorithms.  In 2012 he received a DSTO achievement award for the development of an algorithm to automatically alert helicopter pilots that they are under attack by anti-aircraft gunfire. 

At Consilium Technology, Sebastien led the development of the Geospatial Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture (GAIA), which placed second at the 2018 Wine Impact Awards for Grape Growing technology, and won 3 categories at the SA iAwards 2019. 

Sebastien is passionate about applying his experience in creating Artificial Intelligent (AI) systems for Defence to transforming the AgTech industry, by providing intelligent tools to decision makers and growers.

Matthew Curnow | Sustainable Savings

Matthew has worked in the energy efficiency and sustainability field since 2006. As Managing Director of Sustainable Savings, he is responsible for the business and financial aspects of the company, as well as managing the deployment department.

In addition to offering holistic energy solutions, Sustainable Savings holds a full electricity retail license, designs and manages embedded networks with a range of alternative acquisition approaches.

Matthew has been a member of SA Power Networks Renewable Refence Group, Chair of the Adelaide Hills Council Sustainability Advisory Group and the Energy Chair for the Conservation Council of South Australia’s Environmental Standing Committee.

Michael Macolino | BDO Technology Advisory

Michael is a Senior Manager within the BDO Technology Advisory team, where he leads the development of the AgTech practice, working to define and solve challenges that Technology can solve throughout the Agricultural supply chain.

Michael is also the Expert in Residence at the University of Adelaide’s ThincLab AgTech Incubator. Through this role Michael is able to work closely with AgTech companies to commercialise and scale their technologies.

Michael has been involved with the entrepreneurial and start-up community for many years, developing five businesses and partaking in programs such as SAYES, Propel and EO Accelerator where he learnt how to scale his companies and deal with the many challenges of entrepreneurship.
