UPL Australia Pty Ltd is a division of UPL Group, a premier global provider of total crop solutions designed to secure the world’s long-term food supply.
UPL Group is innovating the industry approach to sustainable agriculture and food security through their ‘OpenAg’ model, which brings together all the different players in the food system – from farmers to food producers to supermarkets to consumers – to share new ideas and potential answers.
UPL Australia were seeking a new external Auditor after many years with a big four firm and selected BDO Adelaide’s Audit team following some prior experience.
Working to a tight group reporting deadline of just 15 calendar days, coupled with the complications presented by COVID, BDO’s Audit team provided a smooth transition for UPL’s team and delivered above expectations.
“Transitioning to a new auditor can be a daunting process, but our switch to BDO was painless. The team were ready to go and their confidence and technical expertise was apparent from day one” says Erich Meyer, Finance Director.
“We were looking to work with a firm whose values aligned to our own and one that could provide a personalised, human approach – the team at BDO fit those criteria” he adds.
During the financial year, there was a transition to a new accounting system and a global acquisition, adding further layers of complexity to the audit.
“The BDO team was highly responsive and agile, able to meet the shifting demands of the job while maintaining outstanding communication with our key staff. Their communication prior to and during the audit built our confidence and trust very quickly” says Mr Meyer.
While a first-time audit engagement can present challenges for both parties, UPL Australia’s switch to BDO has resulted in a highly valued, strong relationship that will only continue to grow.
Given the right team, changing auditors doesn’t need to be difficult – get in touch with one of our team to discuss how we can help.
