BDO drives forward to help Australia’s Top Rugby Players tackle their financial future

With the Rugby World Cup in full swing, BDO today announced it has extended its partnership with the Rugby Union Players’ Association (RUPA) as their exclusive and official accounting and audit partner until the end of 2021.

Grant Saxon, Managing Partner, BDO Sydney, said the firm’s partners and staff would continue to work with RUPA’s members to help them achieve their goals both on and off the field.

“We are proud of our long association with RUPA and look forward to working with the players to help them achieve their dreams and make the most of their professional sporting careers,” Mr Saxon said.

“The partnership is hands-on, with BDO providing education and advice to players on their current and future financial landscape.“

The education program assists players in attaining and maintaining financial health, with topics such as: investment, the benefits of saving, debt avoidance, as well as property and athlete-specific tax guidance.

RUPA Chief Executive Justin Harrison said: “We’re pleased that BDO see the long-term value in this partnership which reflects the collaborative approach and commitment we both have in assisting our members achieve and maintain financial security.”

BDO has also stepped forward as the naming sponsor for RUPA’s flagship annual Rugby Players Awards Lunch which celebrates players’ achievements on and off the field.
