Ashton joined BDO in 2011 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Economics degree at the University of Western Australia. Ashton majored in Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance, Investment Finance, Economics and Money and Banking, and holds a Business Law minor. Ashton is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has completed the Governance Institute of Australia’s Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance.

In his time at BDO, Ashton has developed a breadth of experience in the preparation of valuations, independent expert reports, investigating accountant’s reports and in conducting due diligence across a broad set of industries.  Ashton has found a passion in leading teams on the delivery of independent expert reports, largely involving company valuations.  Ashton also specialises in the valuation of complex financial instruments for financial reporting purposes.  

During his time at BDO, Ashton completed a secondment with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, where his primary responsibility was the reviewing of Independent Expert Reports. In this role, Ashton also provided specialist advice on valuations and accounting treatment.
