I started as a graduate in the business advisory team but 18 months ago I chose to really put my law degree to work in the tax team. Tax is ultimately where I see myself in the future. TEA - Teamwork, Excellence, Approachability

Normally TEA stands for Tax Effect Accounting, but for me it stands for Teamwork, Excellence, and Approachability. Teamwork – I enjoy working as part of a team, Excellence – it is important to me to give 100% to my clients and my team, and Approachability – from day one when you start at BDO everyone including the partners are very approachable and always there to help.

Out of the box

For me, being able to develop my own career path and choose where I want to be, is one of the key reasons BDO is 'out of the box'. Another is the fact that family and friends are important to me and so it is nice to work in a firm who has a big focus on work life balance – whatever that means to each person – and to be able to have the time to be me. On a daily basis though it is the diversity of my role, the wide ranging clients and exposure to different industries that keeps my life at BDO challenging and different.
