Darren has more than 17 years experience working with clients across a broad cross section of industries. His main focus is assisting clients maximise their wealth position by providing advice concerning operational improvement, strategic decision making and taxation planning and advice. He regularly assists clients implement appropriate business systems and measurement tools to help them manage and grow their businesses.

Darren also assists clients on issues involving business acquisitions, valuations, asset protection, business and management structures together advice regarding income tax, capital gains tax, GST and other state taxes.

Key assignments

• Business sale – Provided extensive assistance to the client during their negotiations with a listed company that was keen to acquire the business. The advice included matters relating to how the deal should be structured, an opinion on whether the offer price was fair and reasonable, modelling of the after tax position of the sale and advice regarding strategies to enhance the sale price of the business.
• Restructure review – The review involved identifying assets (personal, investment and business) that were at risk through trading activities and determining a strategy to protect those assets from unnecessary risk. The review recommended changes to asset holding and was able to be achieved in a tax effective manner.
• Succession planning – Advice provided to facilitate the transition of the business to the next generation in a manner that was fair and acceptable to all parties. As part of this succession process we maximized the use of superannuation and new business structures to reduce tax liabilities and provide income streams to all parties and also facilitate asset protection strategies that were appropriate to the client
