Based in Melbourne, Australia, Fillr is the world's most intelligent autofill service that powers tens of millions of transactions monthly around the world. The Fillr autofill platform grows shopper conversion by autofilling user transaction details, simplifying registration and checkout details. Fillr provides its solution to the world's top eCommerce, fintech and 'buy now, pay later’ apps, including Klarna, Affirm, Zip, QuadPay and Rakuten.

BDO’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice was mandated by the shareholders of Fillr to advise on the sale of the company to Rakuten Americas, a division of Tokyo Stock Exchange listed Rakuten Inc, a global leader in eCommerce. The transaction was successfully completed in December 2020.

This acquisition solidifies the continuing relationship between Rakuten and Fillr. The companies are longstanding partners with strong product synergies and mutual goals of accelerating transactions, boosting conversions and growing customer lifetime value.

BDO used its deep technical deal expertise, adding significant value through the maximisation of transaction proceeds to Fillr’s shareholders, providing hands-on commercial support to the client and working collaboratively alongside the client’s legal advisor in dealing with a sophisticated US-based acquirer.

BDO were the perfect fit for our cross-border transaction. Tony and Silvio had a deep understanding of our requirements, exceptional expertise and made themselves available whenever we needed them.”
