BDO is pleased to announce the appointment of Sherif Andrawes as Global Natural Resources Leader.

Sherif commenced his career in 1987 with BDO in London where he specialised in the financial services industry.  After moving permanently to Perth in 1997, he was made a partner in 2001. In 2007, Sherif was appointed as the head of the BDO’s Corporate Finance Team and in 2009 he became the Chairman of BDO in Western Australia.

Sherif is a regular contributor to BDO’s global industry reports, most recently BDO's Energy 2020 Vision: The Near Future of Mining in Australia. Through his numerous leadership roles at BDO and extensive industry experience he possesses significant depth and expertise that will support building on the practice's successes and provide continued superior client service.

BDO Australia Chairman, Helen Argiris, said that Mr Andrawes is in a unique position. “With this appointment, Sherif will be responsible for BDO’s natural resources industry sector which is one of BDO’s most prominent, successful and growing industry sectors globally.”

“Australian clients will benefit further from Sherif’s local knowledge, as well as global insights and increased global network reach. We wish Sherif every success with this important role.”

Sherif succeeds Charles Dewhurst, international liaison partner in Houston at BDO USA.  Charles has held the Global Natural Resources role for the past 12 years and will work with Sherif over the next few months during transition.

"It has never been a more exciting time to work in the natural resources sector, with all the disruptive forces affecting the industry," Sherif said. "I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with my colleagues globally, to share ideas and further build on the strength of our capabilities that address the issues and emerging challenges our clients are facing."
