The opportunity to foster greater financial and business understanding amongst agricultural professionals has driven BDO's new national partnership with the Agribusiness Association of Australia (AAA).

The partnership follows the appointment of Melbourne-based BDO Partner Anne Lockwood as the firm’s new National Leader for Food and Agribusiness.

According to Ms Lockwood, the partnership complements BDO’s national presence within the sector, which includes specialty food and agribusiness expertise across each state.

“From production to processing and all points in between, we speak with business leaders every day about their operations, key issues and how they can make better-informed business decisions,” Ms Lockwood said.

“Each agribusiness faces a different set of challenges and opportunities, from fine-tuning their business model or supply chain and accessing government support initiatives, to remaining globally competitive, capitalising on key export markets or securing capital that will drive their growth.

“Through our partnership with AAA, BDO hopes to further canvass members about their challenges and identify their key knowledge gaps.

“By drawing on our extensive networks, we also plan to build greater links between professionals in various sub-sectors, increasing accessibility and understanding.”

AAA Executive Director Jan Davis said the AAA was thrilled to have BDO step up from a state sponsor in Queensland to a national level.

“BDO’s capabilities and expertise in agribusiness finance and corporate advisory services complement AAA’s objective in offering its members valuable information and networking opportunities that support the growth and development of agribusiness in Australia,” Ms Davis said.

AAA is Australia’s leading organisation promoting the agri-food chain and the contribution agribusiness makes to the Australian economy and community. Its diverse members include individuals and businesses across the supply chain and agriculture  services. BDO joins CBRE and Holding Redlich as national sponsors for AAA.
