BDO expands National Business Restructuring team

09 October 2017

An increase in demand from lenders/borrowers, businesses and directors for business restructuring advice has prompted leading audit, tax and advisory firm BDO to make another key hire to its national business restructuring team, with Nicholas Martin joining as a partner in the Melbourne office today.

Nick will be extending the existing national restructuring service line into Melbourne. He has more than 20 years’ experience in business transformation and advisory services and joins BDO from PPB Advisory, where he acted for lenders and borrowers across a range of industries.

Andrew Fielding, National Lead, Business Restructuring said “Nick’s arrival gives a significant boost to the firm’s capability. It follows the recent appointment of Andrew Sallway in Sydney, and three corporate bankers in the national team, which is all part of the growing national business restructuring service line.”

“Nick recognises the change in the market from formal insolvency to restructuring. Lenders/borrowers, businesses and directors are actively looking for ways to improve their financial position and those of their counterparties.  They want their advisors to develop strategic and practical ways to improve business performance. Security enforcement is a last resort.”

“BDO supports the imminent introduction of the safe harbour legislation and how it can assist a range of stakeholders.”

BDO’s National Business Restructuring team covers bank advisory, business finance/debt advisory, business restructuring as well as traditional insolvency services. Discussions are underway in Perth for the appointment of a restructuring partner to ensure all capital cities are serviced.
