BDO launches 2017 Cyber Security Survey
09 August 2017
For the second consecutive year, BDO and AusCERT are conducting a Cyber Security Survey. Targeting key decision makers, this annual survey identifies current cyber security trends, issues and threats facing businesses in Australia and New Zealand. The goal of the survey is to deliver insights to help businesses build and maintain their cyber resilience over the long term.
BDO National Leader for Cyber Security, Leon Fouche said “Due to the spate of ransomware attacks in recent months, public awareness of cyber-crime has never been higher. The frequency, nature and cost of cyber incidents are on the rise with all industry sectors being targeted. The survey results will highlight whether that knowledge is translating into business readiness.”
As a result of these global attacks, many organisations are now including cyber insurance as part of their risk mitigation strategy. The survey will also explore whether more businesses are buying these policies in 2017 and the adequacy of cover in relation to risk exposures and current cyber security maturity levels.
“Last year we received strong support from industry, with more than 400 respondents across a variety of industry sectors. The value of the benchmark data we obtained not only provides a snapshot of the current state of the cyber landscape in Australia and New Zealand, but it also allows businesses to conduct local benchmarking,” Mr Fouche said.
The survey opens today and closes at midnight on Friday 15 September 2017. Survey participants gain direct access to the survey report in November. To participate in the survey, click here or visit www.bdo.com.au.
