They use convincing marketing and the latest technology to create a sense of authority, urgency, and emotion, which can lead to significant financial losses and emotional distress for victims.
Our Forensic Services team has released the second quarterly edition of BDO’s Australian Scam Culture Report, which provides a deep dive analysis of scam activity during the first quarter of FY24. According to the report, there has been an approximate financial loss of over $105 million in Australia, during the September 2023 quarter.
