BDO welcomes new Tax Partner

Mr Momsen provides specialist Australian income tax structuring advice and due diligence on transactions entered into by domestic and international private equity, corporate, property and infrastructure clients which operate in a broad range of industry sectors.

His expertise extends to advising financial sponsors on fund structures for private capital investment classes. He also advises corporate clients with respect to the Australian income tax aspects of cross border investment, financing, corporate restructuring, and capital management transactions.

Mr Momsen brings nearly 20 years of experience to BDO, and joins the firm from a leading boutique tax advisory firm, where he was a Managing Director. His previous roles include partner and director appointments at top-tier law and global consulting firms.

BDO NSW Office Managing Partner Grant Saxon said Mr Momsen’s appointment would add significant depth and experience to the Tax and Corporate Finance teams.

“James brings extensive specialist taxation experience in corporate M&A and private equity transactions, further strengthening our corporate tax service offering,” said Mr Saxon.

“James is known for providing a steady hand while guiding clients through a transaction, working closely and collaboratively with a range of other legal and commercial advisers to deliver a smooth and successful outcome.”

Mr Momsen said BDO’s culture and presence in the market was what drew him to the firm.

“I’m looking forward to joining a highly credentialled professional services firm that is very well placed to assist clients with their challenges in the modern world and is on a growth trajectory both in the Australian market and globally,” said Mr Momsen.
