Our mandatory climate reporting masterclass for clubs aims to equip and empower registered clubs with the knowledge and tools required to navigate mandatory climate reporting under Australian Accounting Standards Board’s (AASB’s) AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures. This session will help you understand the core requirements of mandatory climate reporting, explore sector-specific complexities and challenges, and provide practical guidance on how to embed the standard into your club’s day-to-day operations. 

What will this session cover? 

1. A deep dive into mandatory sustainability (climate) reporting in the legislation 

Gain a clear understanding of where to start and how to approach preparing for mandatory reporting. You will be guided on how to develop a preparation roadmap, and will cover topics including: 

  • Climate-related risks and opportunities   
  • Financial impact and resilience assessments 
  • Calculating emissions   
  • Reporting. 

2. Introduction to carbon accounting 

Understand the fundamentals of carbon accounting as we look at core carbon accounting concepts relevant to clubs, including: 

  • Common sources of scope 1 and 2 emissions for clubs 
  • Organisational and operational boundary setting and the common challenges and complexities that arise for clubs 
  • Value chain assessment. 

3. Integrating sustainability reporting into finance operations

Be introduced to the right systems, processes and people to embed climate reporting into your business, and set the right foundations for the future of sustainability reporting.

  • Future planning 
  • Identifying timelines for completion of key actions 
  • How to manage sustainability reporting requirements.
