Project description
Phosphate International is an early-stage venture seeking to mine phosphate in the North-West Minerals province.
It holds options and leases on several tenements in the province, both for low-grade Phosphate suitable for export and processing into traditional fertiliser products such as Urea and Super, and high grade phosphate which can be commercialised with minimal processing into organic fertiliser.
This project sought to resolve challenges around access, logistics, the operational model, the commercial model, and access to customers.
BDO's role
- Completing NAIF Applications through Stage 1 and Stage 2 of NAIF’s evaluation process
- Reviewing technical mining model
- Developing a financial and commercial model
- Liaising with Austrade and Trade Investment Queensland to conduct customer market sounding
- Reviewing logistics challenges and identifying options
- Provision of accounting advice (e.g. tax implications, depreciation).
Project outcomes
- Demonstrated capability to provide financial and commercial advice for minerals extraction and processing projects
- Demonstrated understanding of the resources sector of Queensland.
