Project description
The Equipping TAFE for our Future initiative aims to help provide local businesses with the skilled workers they need to grow the economy, foster innovation and ensure that Queensland remains competitive by continuing to build and modernise TAFE facilities. As part of this, the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) required Business Case services for four major capital projects across the Bundamba, Eagle Farm, Bohle and Robina TAFE campuses.
BDO's role
BDO was engaged by DESBT to prepare a total of four business cases, one for each of the following projects:
- $7.0m expansion of the Metal Trades, Manufacturing and Robotics Centre at the Bundamba TAFE campus
- $28.9m Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Centre at Eagle Farm TAFE campus
- $10.6m Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Training Facility and $3.6m Advanced Manufacturing Skills Lab at Bohle TAFE campus
- $23.3m complete fit out of a cold shell building capable of delivering training from a range of sectors at Robina TAFE campus.
For each business case, BDO provided the following:
- Financial and Commercial analysis, including development of a financial model with key inputs and assumptions, as well as analysis of outcomes such as risk-adjusted NPV of the project
- Economic analysis featuring a comparative CBA between base case and project case
- Market considerations and delivery model analysis.
