Financial & commercial advisory for the Redland Whitewater Centre & Wyaralong Rowing Centre PVR​

Project description

BDO has been engaged as the financial and commercial adviser for the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (DSDILGP) led Project Validation Reports (PVRs) for the proposed new Redland Whitewater Centre (RWC) and the redevelopment of the Wyaralong Rowing Centre (WRC). ​

These projects are intended to support the hosting of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, as well as considering the long-term benefits for the community in terms of sport and recreational infrastructure in legacy mode. 

BDO's role

The BDO engagement involved:​

• Participating in a delivery model workshop to provide management insights during the market consideration and delivery model analysis, which focused on generating demand for the facilities, particularly in the legacy mode
• Collaborating with relevant project advisers and stakeholders, including Redland City Council for RWC and Rowing QLD for WRC, to gain an understanding of the financial estimates for the projects, including the legacy mode
• Developing comprehensive financial models for the projects, covering capital costs, whole-of-life costs, operating costs, and revenue 
• Conducting financial and commercial analysis, as well as affordability analysis, to provide decision-makers with insights into the annual financial impacts of the projects.​

Project outcomes

BDO provided financial and commercial advisory services for the projects, considering their impact on the hosting of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games and their legacy mode. Separate financial and commercial analyses were conducted for each of the projects.​
