Bernard is a Business Services Executive Director with BDO in Brisbane.

With growth advisory as a key focus, Bernard supports business owners set their strategy, write supporting business plans and establish performance measurement and budgeting systems. He has extensive experience advising clients on appropriate business structuring for taxation, succession and sale purposes. He has acted as lead advisor on several large projects, including the sale of a privately held medical practice to a publicly listed health service provider; capital raising and structuring for the international expansion of a project art business; restructure of the ownership of a major construction company, including the introduction of new equity and finance arrangements; and supporting a New Zealand based engineering business to establish branch operations in Australia, including advice on taxation structuring, accounting systems, payroll and their reporting framework.

Bernard’s accounting career stretches back to 1981. He joined BDO in 1986 and became a Partner in 1991, and has since held several leadership positions within the firm. He was Partner in Charge of BDO Brisbane’s Private Client service line, between 2001 and 2011, and National Chair of the service line, from 2008 until 2011.
