Matthew is a Director within the Indirect Tax team, based in BDO’s Brisbane office. He offers indirect tax services to clients across various industries, with a particular focus on stamp duty, GST, land tax and payroll tax.  

Matthew provides a combination of advisory and compliance services for clients in specialised areas of indirect taxes. He has experience advising on corporate restructures, providing due diligence services, preparing voluntary disclosures, stamping submissions for business acquisitions and liaising with both the ATO and various State Revenue Offices during investigations.

Transaction assistance 

• Due diligence services undertaken on multiple targets across various industries in multiple jurisdictions from an indirect tax perspective 
• Providing drafting recommendations in Share Purchase Agreements, Business Sale Agreements, Unit Sale Agreements and other transaction documentation 
• Post-transaction assistance, including preparing stamping submissions to State Revenue offices and assisting with resolving inherited indirect tax matters from targets. 
• Identifying restructure opportunities and/or considerations from an indirect tax perspective. 

State Revenue Office engagement 

• Liaising with State Revenue Offices on payroll tax investigations undertaken on small to large corporate groups 
• Preparation of objection submissions and voluntary disclosure submissions.
