With over 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, across multiple jurisdictions, Scott has a broad network and expertise in regional development with a particular focus on Northern Australia.

Scott has previously led multidisciplinary teams that have been responsible for economic analysis, strategic infrastructure business case development, project development, regulatory reform, legislative review, business support, industry strategy, demand forecasting, market development, and strategic engagement activities. 

He has a deep understanding of the tourism, events, hospitality and leisure industries and the unique challenges and opportunities that working in regional Australia brings.

Experience

  • Scott has spearheaded numerous initiatives that significantly impacted the Northern Territory's economy and tourism sector. This was instrumental in managing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a recovery that saw visitor expenditure reach $2.6 billion in 2024. Scott’s efforts helped contribute to the highest-ever screen production activity in the Territory, with collaborations involving major platforms.
  • As a board member of the Northern Territory Major Events Company, Scott was a key figure in the establishment of the Parrtjima - A Festival in Light, held annually in Alice Springs. Passionate about sharing the stories and traditions of Aboriginal culture, the company worked closely with local communities, artists, and custodians to help shape a festival that brings together ancient knowledge and cutting-edge technology. Through their leadership, Parrtjima became the only authentic Aboriginal light festival of its kind, showcasing large-scale installations, performances, and talks that celebrate Country, culture, and connection. 
  • As Deputy CEO of the Northern Territory's Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Scott played a pivotal role in developing and implementing the Northern Territory Tourism Industry Strategy 2030 (T2030). This strategic framework aims to guide the Territory's tourism sector toward sustainable growth by 2030. The industry leadership was instrumental in co-developing T2030 through extensive collaboration with industry stakeholders. The strategy sets ambitious targets, including attracting between 2.51 million and 3.03 million visitors and generating $3.01 billion to $3.67 billion in total expenditure by 2030.
