At BDO, we value the differences and unique perspectives that every individual brings to our team.

As a firm, we are committed to diversity and an inclusive culture. We want all our people to have a positive experience whoever they are and wherever they are in the firm. One where they:

  • Are valued for who they are
  • Know different views, opinions and ideas will be valued and listened to
  • Feel part of the team and can safely bring their uniqueness to the table
  • Are trusted to get their job done
  • Feel like they belong
  • Know what is expected of them
  • Are empowered to develop and innovate
  • Can freely and respectfully disagree and debate with others.

We are proud of our culture; however, culture is not static and we know there will always be things we can improve.

Our inclusion networks - led nationally, driven locally - help us create an environment where we can all be our best, no matter who we are or where we are, championing and role modelling our values and the culture we aspire to.

Members are committed to driving action that embeds our values-based culture, keeping inclusion at the top of our agenda and encouraging our people to be mindful of and actively engage in inclusive behaviour at BDO.

BDO is committed to fostering an inclusive culture where our people feel valued, supported and empowered to contribute. I am personally committed to leading us on this journey and ensuring everyone at BDO feels part of a genuinely inclusive and respectful workplace.

Our inclusion networks

Women@BDO +

Our Women@BDO network is committed to advancing gender equality and inclusion, empowering our women to build connections, share knowledge and achieve their career aspirations.

BProud@BDO +

Our BProud network (soon to be launched) is dedicated to promoting inclusion, visibility and allyship for our LGBTIQ+ community.

Families&Carers@BDO +

Our Families&Carers@BDO network provides a forum for connection and resource sharing to support our people with family and caring responsibilities.

Community impact

BCaring

BDO’s BCaring program enables us to give back to the communities we serve through volunteering, pro-bono work, and fundraising or donations to foster meaningful impact.

Through our established national and local charity partners, which were selected based on our people’s input, we aim to maximise our collective impact for the causes which are most important to our people.

With access to our giving platform, our people are also able to contribute financially to causes that matter to them, with BDO matching eligible donations.

First Nations engagement

BDO is committed to meaningful reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, guided by principles of authenticity, respect, and impact.

BDO Australia Limited has developed our First Nations Engagement Strategy. The strategic framework is designed to build respectful relationships, foster cultural understanding, and create pathways for economic and professional inclusion.

Yalari & BDO partnership

BDO has a formal partnership with Yalari, a not-for-profit organisation that creates educational and leadership opportunities for Indigenous students from remote and regional communities.

Through Yalari’s Rosemary Bishop Indigenous Education Scholarship, BDO provides support to First Nations students to attend boarding school and complete their secondary education.

Our people also participate in yearly orientation camps, volunteering initiatives like the tutoring program, and fundraising events.

Sustainability

At BDO, we view sustainability as an extension of our commitment to doing the right thing. It influences everything from the way we build relationships to how we show up for each other and contribute meaningfully beyond the business. It reflects our values and is a guiding principle for how we operate, grow, and lead.

Our commitment to sustainability spans every aspect of our business. From reducing harm in our operations and supply chains to cultivating a workplace where our people feel valued, empowered and connected. It strengthens trust with our clients through transparency in governance and leadership, and demonstrates courageous thinking to meet the needs of today while striving to secure a thriving future for generations to come.

Find out more about our community impact in our latest Sustainability Report.

Global opportunities

At BDO, we thrive on global collaboration. Our extensive international presence allows us to transfer and share resources, knowledge, skills, and experience across borders, enhancing both our global and domestic operations. We are committed to providing our employees with invaluable opportunities to work and learn in diverse environments through our secondment programs and permanent transfers.

This approach enables our people to build extensive professional networks, drive innovative solutions, and immerse themselves in new cultural environments. By fostering global mobility, we empower our employees to grow both personally and professionally, while also contributing to the success of our clients and the firm.

Our dedicated local BDO Australia Global Mobility team works closely with BDO overseas offices to facilitate both long-term and short-term international secondments and relocation opportunities.

"I have been fortunate during my time at BDO to go on international secondment as well as work on multiple international clients, which has allowed me to travel with BDO to the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand.

BDO lives its values, in fact my international secondment was arranged at the same time my wife was going on secondment with her firm. This is something I have always appreciated as we were able to share a global experience together.

Global opportunities have also taken me outside of my comfort zone and allowed me to understand how business is conducted in international markets. With our clients becoming more global this is a strong attribute for them, because I have demonstrable experience I can put into action to assist with their needs."
