Celebrating 50 years of BDO in Australia
1975 – 2025: 50 years as an Australian network for BDO
In 2025, BDO marks 50 years as a brand in Australia.
To celebrate, BDO’s people will mark the golden jubilee year by giving back to their local communities through a new social responsibility initiative available to staff.
An Australian presence for the global audit, tax and advisory firm was formalised in 1975 with an association of local firms around the country. Fifty years later, BDO in Australia has offices in 13 locations and a team approaching 3,000 people.
Chief Executive Partner, Tony Schiffmann, says that over the past 50 years, the operating environment has changed dramatically, shaped by market shifts, technology and evolving client needs and expectations.
“BDO has grown into a successful business by adapting to these changes during the past half-century,” he said.
“We’ve grown into a national firm known for its strong relationships, deep expertise, and lasting impact. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in our story so far, I am excited for what comes next.”
BDO in Australia was established as an association of firms in 1975, and is now one of the country's largest associations of independently owned accounting practices with offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, McLaren Vale, Melbourne, Parramatta, Perth, Sydney, the Sunshine Coast and Townsville.
