Executive summary

Sharnie is a Partner in BDO’s Corporate & International tax team and the National Leader of the BDO tax service line. She leads a dedicated team of highly experienced professionals who work across all areas of corporate tax, indirect tax, employment tax as well as state and specialty taxes.

Sharnie has over 15 years’ corporate and international tax experience, including providing tax compliance services and tax advisory services to Australian and foreign owned private and public listed companies. She’s also a specialist in transactional tax with extensive experience on numerous tax due diligence projects, structuring pieces and Initial Public Offering (IPO) projects.

As part of the executive, Sharnie is heavily involved in shaping the future of the firm. She understands the importance of working with great people to drive both business and personal success.

  • Transaction support for Scheme of Arrangements - Assisting a large retail company as their lead tax adviser on a recent takeover including Advisory, Tax Opinion for Scheme Booklet and Class Ruling.
  • International tax structuring – Assisting large retail company with tax consolidation and structuring involving the merger of two corporate groups. 
  • Technical Transaction Advice (Coal Industry) - Advising on appropriate structure to ensure it is tax effective and commercially viable for a large global group.
  • Public documents/listing – Adviser on various tax due diligence works, including the preparation and review of publicly available documents. 
  • General tax adviser – Adviser for a variety of public listed and large private clients ensuring all tax compliance matters are appropriately handled and risks and opportunities managed.
