BDO Cyber Threat Insights Report Q3 2018
08 November 2018
As governments become more agile in responding to changing cyber security threats and risks, the regulatory landscape adapts. 2018 saw an increased focus on cyber security and data privacy laws, with the introduction of The Australian Mandatory Data Breach Notification that came into effect on 22 February 2018. Since the introduction of this new legislation, Australia witnessed 305 notifiable data breaches impacting approximately 7.5 million individuals in total.*
While there's been a prominent focus on data breaches in 2018 globally, cyber adversaries have employed interesting tactics to commit them. This combination of evolving threats and regulatory requirements have had widespread impacts, particularly on the financial and banking industry.
The Q3 2018 BDO Cyber Threat Insights Report discusses recent cyber security activities including:
- Global case studies of notable cyber security breaches during Q3
- The malicious activities of nation state actors during this time
- A view of attacks against the finance and banking sectors in 2018
- Ways to adopt a threat-based cyber security approach.
The report is a joint collaboration between BDO Israel Cybersecurity and BDO USA Cybersecurity.
