2017/2018 Cyber Security Survey
BDO Australia and BDO New Zealand, in partnership with AusCERT, have conducted the second annual Cyber Security Survey with more than 500 board, business and IT executives across Australia and New Zealand.
The 2017/2018 Cyber Security Survey report examines the cyber security risks and realities faced by Australian and New Zealand businesses, across a range of organisation sizes and industry verticals.
The key themes emerging from the survey results are:
- Overall, businesses have improved their cyber security posture compared to the previous year, and are starting to focus more holistically on cyber security across all levels of their operations
- The changes in privacy legislation, both in Australia and the European Union, are having a big impact on businesses and will continue to do so
- Organisations are overconfident in their level of preparedness for the Australian Data Breach Notification legislation
- Board awareness and investment in cyber security remains an issue, with the visibility of cyber security risk still needing to improve.
